Weather warnings in yellow and orange remain in effect due to northern weather systems affecting regions including the Westfjords, all of North Iceland, the Highlands, and East Iceland up to Glettingur. Snowfall is reported in the Highlands, with significant snow accumulation occurring on northern mountain passes and lighter snow on the eastern side.

A strong northwesterly wind or storm has also hit the South, with gusts reaching up to 35 meters per second. These conditions may pose risks for vehicles exposed to high winds, and authorities advise securing loose items.

Travel is not recommended on mountain roads in North and East Iceland as well as the Highlands. Ice patches have formed on roads including Holtavörðuheiði and Bröttubrekka, and these conditions are widespread on many routes leading into the interior of the country. Snow cover is noted on Hellisheiði eystri.

In Mývatnsöræfi, significant snowfall overnight has resulted in challenging driving conditions. However, conditions are expected to improve with the day; temperatures will gradually rise, transitioning snowfall into rain or sleet across northern and eastern regions.

Wind is predicted to remain moderate today, with north and northwest winds ranging between 10-18 m/s, increasing to 15-23 m/s in the Southeast. As the day progresses, rain will lessen, especially in the western parts of the country.

Tomorrow, winds are anticipated to calm, with a northwesterly or variable direction at 3-8 m/s and generally partly cloudy skies. A slight increase in wind is possible in the northeast, accompanied by occasional showers. Temperatures will range from 2 to 10 degrees Celsius, warmest in the south. The weather for Wednesday indicates a cold northerly flow, with showers or snow expected in the east, while milder conditions are forecast for the latter part of the week.
