Repairs underway at power substation in Grundarfjörður, Iceland
Repairs are currently underway at a power substation in Grundarfjörður due to a malfunction. Helga Jóhannsdóttir, the executive director of utility systems at RARIK, indicated that the duration of the repairs is uncertain. While work is expected to continue into the evening, there is a possibility that it may extend into tomorrow.
“All necessary materials are on-site, and we have been preparing for the project since this morning. Repairs are set to begin shortly after noon,” Jóhannsdóttir stated.
The power outage affected Grundarfjörður and the surrounding areas at 1 a.m. on Sunday but power was restored through backup routes about an hour later. All residents currently have electricity via backup sources and are advised to conserve energy while the repairs are in progress.
