Weather warnings in yellow and orange have been issued for northern and eastern regions in Iceland due to an approaching cold front. The weather agency forecasts significant snowfall, especially in the areas of Ströndum, Norðurland, and Austurland. These advisories will remain in effect until tomorrow evening.

Changes in weather patterns are underway as a northerly wind sweeps across the country, causing a drop in temperature and strengthening winds. The combination of wind and snow is expected to disrupt travel plans, particularly in mountainous regions. Yellow warnings are currently in place, and by evening, orange alerts will come into effect, indicating a higher likelihood of transportation disruptions. The weather service is advising against travel during this period.

Expect particularly strong winds in Ströndum, with the heaviest precipitation anticipated in Tröllaskagi. The wind is expected to increase to speeds of 10 to 18 meters per second tomorrow, with sharp gusts likely in southern mountain areas. Considerable rain or sleet is forecast for northern and eastern Iceland, while other regions will experience partly cloudy conditions.

As the evening approaches, a decrease in wind is expected in the western parts of the country, with a corresponding reduction in precipitation in Norðvesturlandi. Daytime temperatures will range from 2 to 10 degrees Celsius.

In response to the inclement weather, farmers have altered their plans for sheep herding, opting to start earlier than originally intended.
