Rescue team dispatched to assist sailors near Akranes in Iceland

A rescue team dispatched two boats from the Akranes Search and Rescue Association this evening to assist individuals aboard a sailing vessel located approximately 3-4 nautical miles west of Akranes. According to an information officer from the national search and rescue organization, the sailors encountered difficulties in challenging weather conditions and requested assistance to safely reach the harbor in Akranes.
