A new documentary for children explores the life of a four-year-old girl with one Icelandic and one Estonian parent. The director describes the film as a contemporary exploration of the realities faced by many children in Iceland today.

The protagonist, Ísadava, speaks Icelandic with her mother and Estonian with her father, embodying the experiences of bilingual children navigating two cultures and languages. Director Linda Ásgeirsdóttir emphasizes that the film offers insights into the lives of children with parents from different backgrounds.

Linda, along with Hrefna Hallgrímsdóttir, is producing the film through their production company, Skrítla ehf., which has a long history of creating both children’s content and documentaries featuring animals, a challenging endeavor they have found rewarding.

The documentary aims to resonate with young audiences by reflecting their diverse experiences in a globalized world. It highlights how children adapt to their unique familial and cultural backgrounds, showcasing the beauty and complexity of growing up bilingual.
