Sunday 8th 2024 on 18:33 in
Faroe Islands

The announcement was made during a celebration in Trongisvágur yesterday, marking the centenary of the Plantasjan.

The pine tree at Plantasjan in the municipality of Tvøroyar has received the honor of being named “Tree of the Year.”

The Forest Protection Committee has decided to initiate a project aimed at promoting interest in tree planting.

The plan is to designate two Trees of the Year, with the public invited to propose candidates for one of the trees, while the committee will select the other from one of the local forests.

You can listen to an interview with Jóhann Mortensen, the chairman of the Forest Protection Committee, for more insights.
