Next week, the weather in Finland is expected to remain predominantly sunny and warm. During the early part of the week, a high-pressure system in the east will gradually move away, allowing a low-pressure system from the west, along with its associated rain, to linger near Finland’s western coast. According to meteorologist Matti Huutonen from Yle, both Monday and Tuesday will likely see mostly sunny conditions, with the possibility of temperature reaching heatwave thresholds, as it did for the 69th time this summer on Sunday, setting another new record. So far in September, Finland has recorded six heat days, surpassing the previous record of five days set in 1968.

On Sunday, temperatures in Rauma reached 25.3 degrees Celsius, and heat thresholds were also exceeded in Kokemäki, Salo, Turku, and Mikkeli.

From Monday to Tuesday, the weather will remain largely clear and dry, although a weather front will move toward Finland’s western coast on Tuesday, bringing some changes. Expected temperatures will exceed 20 degrees, reaching up to 24 degrees in some areas. The warm southern winds from Eastern Europe will intensify, leading to gusty conditions, especially over marine areas where wind speeds may reach 17 meters per second.

On Wednesday, scattered showers and brief rain are likely as a rain area moves across the country, temporarily lowering temperatures to below 20 degrees. However, by Thursday, temperatures are predicted to rise once again above 20 degrees, with the potential for additional showers. The forecast suggests that warm weather will persist throughout early September.
