In Grundarfjörður, residents are being asked to conserve electricity while repairs are made to a serious malfunction at the RARIK supply station. Backup power generators provided by Landsnet are currently supplying residents as repair work is set to begin tomorrow. The repairs may take up to two days but should not significantly affect the community.

Last night, power went out in Grundarfjörður and surrounding areas around 1 AM due to the malfunction. Backup power was restored about an hour later, although residents are advised to use electricity sparingly. Most residents had power restored by 2 AM, but those in the nearby Framsveit experienced a longer wait.

Helga Jóhannsdóttir, the operations manager for RARIK, noted that a machine from Landsnet has been sent to assist with the situation and ensure power delivery reliability during the repairs. While the repairs are being prepared, residents have been asked to minimize their electricity consumption.

Helga assured local power users that disruptions should be minimal during the repair process, although some interruptions could occur when systems are reconnected upon completion of the work. The community is hopeful for repairs to wrap up by the following evening.
