The weather in Finland is expected to remain summer-like and warmer than usual for this time of year throughout the weekend. A large area of high pressure located east of the country is bringing sunny and warm conditions, according to meteorologist Matti Huutonen from Yle.

On Friday, the annual record for hot days was broken for the second consecutive day, with temperatures reaching high levels in South and Central Finland. Mikkeli recorded a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, while Haapavesi in North Ostrobothnia also exceeded the heat threshold. So far this year, Finland has experienced 67 hot days, surpassing the previous long-standing record of 65 days set in 2002. A hot day is defined as one where temperatures rise above 25 degrees Celsius in any part of Finland.

Over the weekend, the warm and summer-like weather will continue across the country. While the majority of the region will enjoy sunny conditions, thunderstorms may occur early Saturday morning in South and Central Lapland, along with potential fog in the morning. During the day, temperatures in Lapland will hover around 20 degrees, with North Lapland possibly dropping below 15 degrees.

In the southern and central areas, temperatures on Saturday are expected to range between 20 and 24 degrees, with some areas potentially exceeding the heat threshold again. On Sunday, conditions will clear in Lapland with temperatures around 20 degrees, while other regions in Finland will see varying cloud cover and temperatures above 20 degrees.

Warm weather is set to continue into the early part of next week.
