September has started with unusually warm weather for the season, presenting challenges in wardrobe choices due to the considerable temperature fluctuations throughout the day—from chilly mornings to sweltering afternoons. Local residents have shared their perspectives on navigating the extended heat this summer. Ulla Ristimäki from Espoo enjoys the less restrictive clothing options, stating, “It’s not difficult to dress. I usually check the weather forecast the night before and choose my outfit accordingly. While I’m fine with current warm days, I hope for more clear autumn days.”

Pirjo Sahlman from Kerava appreciates the warmth, saying, “Let’s enjoy the heat while it lasts. If it gets cooler, I can always layer up.” She also mentions that the warm autumn means there’s no need to travel south for nicer weather.

Norwegian motorcyclist Victor Nicolaisen, who plans to stay in Helsinki until Monday before heading to Tallinn, has adapted to the warmth in his protective gear. He states, “It’s hot, but my outfit is necessary for safety. It’s easier to wear it than carry it.”

Photographer Fabian Björk wears a beanie despite the sunny day, humorously noting that it helps him look younger while concealing his graying hair. He mentions, “It can get a bit cooler in the shade.”

University student Antti Kaijansinkko, dressed in long beige pants and a black long-sleeve shirt, expresses concerns about climate change amidst the unseasonable warmth. He is content with his outfit choices and emphasizes the seriousness of climate phenomena, stating, “This is a very worrying situation when viewed from a climate change perspective.”
