Reykjavik school administrators have alerted parents about a man who has reportedly been pursuing children in the Fossvogur neighborhood. The police have received a report and are currently investigating the matter.

In an email sent to parents, Fossvogskóli officials detailed that the individual has been seen following children in the vicinity of the school over the past few days. The email describes the man as having a buzz cut, smoking, riding a scooter, and speaking no Icelandic.

Asmundur Runar Gylfason, a senior police officer from the Capital Region Police, confirmed that they have received a report indicating a man has been following boys in Fossvogur. The police treat such reports seriously and are actively looking into the situation.

“Our approach will be to direct our resources and personnel to this area and maintain surveillance there. However, this is in the initial investigation phase. No crime has been committed,” said Asmundur Runar.

Authorities are particularly keen to speak with the man due to reports of inappropriate behavior.

Previously, the police received four reports in the spring about a man who allegedly harassed children near Vidistaðaskóli in Hafnarfjordur, leading to increased monitoring in that area. In August, Sævar Guðmundsson, an inspector, stated the investigation had explored all possible angles without any conclusive results. At that time, no further reports had been received.
