Housing options in Fuglafjørður are deemed inadequate, with residents dissatisfied with urban and rural planning, and the municipality is perceived negatively compared to other regions in the country. These findings stem from an extensive community survey conducted by Kringvarpið and Lóðir.

Residents in Fuglafjørður expressed particular discontent regarding housing availability, with the municipality scoring just slightly better than the least favored Tórshavn. Only 144 respondents participated in the survey, rating their satisfaction on a scale from 1 (very satisfied) to 7 (very dissatisfied). The results were then converted to a 0-100 scale, where a higher score indicates greater satisfaction.

Mayor Dáva Juul acknowledged the unfavorable ratings, indicating this outcome was expected. He noted the challenges in securing building land, making it difficult to find suitable plots. Juul mentioned prioritizing other areas over housing development.

Interestingly, despite the low score in housing, Fuglafjørður ranks high in services for children and youth, second only to Eiði municipality. The satisfaction rating for these services averages 89, the highest in the survey for this category.

Local teacher and youth sports coach Jóan Pauli Jacobsen commented on the abundance of offerings for children, particularly noting the popularity of football, with significant participation levels among both boys and girls.

The municipality is also praised for its childcare services, highlighted by social department leader Jónhild Abrahamsen, who emphasized the dedicated effort towards creating a good environment for children, supported by numerous qualified staff. Three daycare centers operate in Fuglafjørður: Barnalund, Stropin, and Kambur.
