A man who taught children self-defense in Kópavogur without parental consent was taken in for questioning by the police yesterday. He received clear orders to stop his teaching activities and is facing charges for violating firearm regulations.

The individual had been conducting self-defense classes at the Kópavogur Library, where he shared videos on social media showing himself using clubs and knives during demonstrations. Following reports of his activities, authorities intervened.

“We became aware of this yesterday and proceeded to locate the individual for an interrogation,” said Heimir Ríkharðsson, an assistant chief of police in the Capital Region. He confirmed that they are pursuing charges against the man for his firearms offenses and have instructed him to cease his self-defense teachings. “We hope this will conclude the matter.”

The man was released after the questioning session.
