Future of students at Free School in Tórshavn remains uncertain

The future of the 29 students at the Free School in Tórshavn, currently located in Velbastaður, remains uncertain as discussions arise regarding the school’s potential closure.

The Ministry of Education received news about the school’s situation unexpectedly. Hjalmar Hansen, the director of the Ministry, emphasized that it is ultimately the parents’ responsibility to find new schooling options for their children. Parents can enroll their children in other municipal schools or free schools.

An extraordinary general meeting regarding the Free School’s status is scheduled for September 18, where a proposal to dissolve the school will be discussed.
