Travel conditions in the Mývatn and Möðrudalsheiði regions of Iceland are currently dangerous due to severe sandstorms. The police in North-East Iceland issued a warning about driving conditions around Mývatnsöræfi. As of 5 PM local time, substantial winds have blown loose asphalt off the road west of Jökulsá á Fjöllum near Grímsstaðir. The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration has marked Biskupsháls as impassable due to poor visibility, posing risks of vehicle damage from blowing sand.

An orange weather warning has also been issued for the Westfjords. The Icelandic Meteorological Office has updated its weather warnings to orange for this region, while a yellow warning will remain in effect for the northern part of the country and the central highlands throughout the evening. This is in response to a southwestern storm moving across the area.
