In Ísafjörður, a severe southwest storm has prompted an orange weather warning for the Westfjords region. Today, two sailing boats broke free from their moorings at Pollinn and ended up stranded on the shore. The second vessel washed ashore this afternoon and is currently beached while authorities await calmer winds before attempting to recover it. Earlier in the day, a sailing boat had already been blown onto a rock barrier near Pollgötu.

The weather has been extremely harsh in the Westfjords, accompanied by significant waves that have caused damage, including flying roof panels. Rescue teams have been dispatched to respond to several emergencies linked to the severe conditions.
