Two ice fishing trawlers docked as fishing activity anticipated near Faroe Islands and East Greenland

Two ice fishing trawlers remain docked, according to the Fish Market.

There are three freezer trawlers near the Faroe Islands, one is located in the waters off Iceland, two are by East Greenland, and two are still at port.

Additionally, one freezer trawler is currently conducting test fishing for Greenland halibut.

Strong currents are expected

The current conditions will be quite strong this week. The weather forecast is promising, leading the Fish Market to anticipate significant fishing activity.

The boats are expected to catch cod and haddock; however, the overall catch is expected to be small. Several boats are likely to head to the Faroese Bank.

Two ice fishing trawlers are fishing for Greenland halibut but are experiencing limited success.

Regarding Greenland halibut, one freezer trawler is operating near the Faroe Islands and another near East Greenland. Their catch of Greenland halibut has also been modest.

Two pairs of vessels are targeting saithe and other whitefish, with limited success reported. Meanwhile, two pairs are fishing for gold salmon.

Three trawlers are active further north and are reporting a good catch.

Two gillnetters are fishing for Greenland halibut, and another two are targeting Atlantic wolf fish. Their catch rates have varied, the Fish Market reports.
