Agreement negotiations set to begin as current contract with Starvsfelagið union expires in Faroe Islands

The current agreement between the Starvsfelagið union, the Local Government Employers’ Association, and the Ministry of Finance expires on October 1. However, negotiations for a new contract have not yet begun.

“It may seem tight as we are already into September, but the fact is that we will have a new agreement before the current one expires,” stated Súni Selfoss, the chairman of Starvsfelagið. He emphasized that the union’s board has adequately prepared for the discussions ahead.

Despite the union negotiating with both the Local Government Employers’ Association and the Ministry of Finance, the outcomes often result in generally similar agreements across the board.
