Monday 2nd 2024 on 13:48 in
Finland

The HUS Group, responsible for specialized healthcare in Uusimaa, will close the maternity ward at Lohja Hospital at the beginning of December. Initially, the closure was scheduled to happen by 2026, coinciding with the completion of an expansion at Jorvi Hospital. The maternity ward at Lohja Hospital has been closed throughout the current summer, but it will reopen for expectant mothers next Monday for an additional three months. The decision was communicated to the staff at Lohja Hospital on Monday afternoon. Additionally, a new phone service has been implemented in Uusimaa since early summer, which women are required to use before heading to give birth.
