Negotiations resume between Machinists’ Association and Municipal Employers’ Association in Faroe Islands

Negotiations between the Machinists’ Association and the Municipal Employers’ Association regarding the machinists at SEV and IRF will be resumed today.

“We have a meeting with the Municipal Employers’ Association at 1 PM and with the Machinists’ Association at 3 PM,” says Terje Sigurðsson, the mediator.

“After that, we will meet together with both parties, and that will take place tomorrow at the Mediation Office,” he adds.

The mediator was called in on July 5, after negotiations between the Machinists’ Association and the Municipal Employers’ Association broke down. Since then, there have been several interruptions in the mediation process, but Terje Sigurðsson now expects the discussions to continue until a resolution is reached.

The contract covering the machinists at SEV and IRF expired in October 2022.
