The newest addition to the deep-sea fishing fleet, Finnur Fríði, has returned from its maiden voyage, landing 320 tons of mackerel at Varðan Pelagic in Tvøroyri. The crew has been fishing in Faroese waters, and it appears that the mackerel have returned to these seas.

On Saturday, a local broadcast spoke with Arni Hansen, the captain of Finnur Fríði, who reported that they had successfully completed three hauls. The initial voyage included a crew of 14 and two technicians.

This development signals an encouraging return of mackerel to Faroese waters, which is crucial for the local fishing industry.
