Employment rises in Faroe Islands with notable growth among women

As of July 1, there were 30,323 employed individuals in the Faroe Islands, marking an increase of 300 compared to the same date last year. This growth represents a one percent rise, according to the Faroese Statistics Office (Hagstovan).

In July, there were nearly 15,600 men and 14,800 women in employment.

The increase among women is more pronounced than that among men, with a growth rate of 1.5 percent for women compared to 0.5 percent for men.

There are approximately 2,000 employers in the Faroe Islands. Notably, 60 percent of employed women work in the public sector, while 70 percent of men are employed by private companies.
