Metro service resumes at Rautatientori station in Helsinki after renovation

Metro service returns today, Monday, to the Rautatientori station in Helsinki after a three-month renovation break. The renovation aimed to enhance fire safety and passenger comfort. One of the most noticeable changes for travelers is the installation of smoke doors at the platform level.

The closure of the station has made it difficult for people to navigate through downtown Helsinki since the beginning of summer. Yle is broadcasting a live stream of the morning traffic at Rautatientori, with reporter Olli-Pekka Kursi on-site to gather passengers’ reactions.

Following the reopening of Rautatientori metro station, trains will again run through downtown Helsinki with improved frequency, reaching intervals of just three minutes at peak times.
