A significant police presence was noted during the town festival “Í túninu heima” in Mosfellsbær, which took place last night. The festival began on Thursday and concludes today. Reports indicate instances of underage drinking and altercations among youths during the event, with police describing a considerable number of incidents associated with the celebrations.

The police stated that while there were no serious assaults reported, they managed a variety of tasks related to intoxication and public festivities. During the night, several arrests were made, including one man taken into custody for attacking individuals with a bat outside a bar in downtown Reykjavík. He was subsequently brought to a police station for questioning.

In another incident, a man was removed from a hotel after causing a disturbance. Additionally, a driver was arrested for being involved in a traffic accident and attempting to flee the scene on foot. Law enforcement located him shortly after the incident, and he is currently in custody for investigation.

Police also seized a weapon from a driver who was stopped under suspicion of driving under the influence. The heightened police activity reflects the challenges the department faces during large public events, as they work to ensure the safety of attendees.
