Strong winds and rainfall expected across Iceland as warm air moves in

Today, weather forecasts indicate strong southerly winds or brisk gales, accompanied by drizzle or rain. Significant precipitation is expected in the Snæfellsnes, Breiðafjörður, and Westfjords regions, while East Iceland will remain relatively dry. In the east, lighter winds may allow temperatures to reach up to 20 degrees Celsius at their peak.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, strong southerly winds will persist. Wet weather will continue in the western parts of the country, with a notable increase in rainfall in the southern regions. However, drier spells are anticipated in the northeast, where temperatures could also soar to 20 degrees in the right conditions.

The forecast suggests that warm and moist air will be drawn in from the south due to a low-pressure system over the Greenland Sea and a high-pressure area near Britain.
