The situation is being updated. Previously, local chapters of the Labour Party in Levanger and Verdal have made similar decisions. Only the Stjørdal Labour Party has expressed support for former Health Minister Ingvild Kjerkol to top their candidate list. During the meeting of the Steinkjer Labour Party on Thursday evening, Kjerkol was not included among the potential candidates.

In Namsos, Amund Hellesø, the deputy leader of Trøndelag Labour Party, is proposed as the primary candidate. Kjerkol’s name does not appear on any positions in this list either. Following the nomination meeting, Steinkjer Labour Party issued a press release stating: “Steinkjer Labour Party believes that the list for the 2025 parliamentary election must consist of candidates who meet the following criteria: candidates who can win the election, candidates who will do a good job in Parliament, and candidates who will represent the entire region effectively.”

Additionally, local Labour Party chapters in Inderøy and Nærøysund municipalities held nomination meetings on the same evening. It remains unclear who they will propose as the lead candidate from Nord-Trøndelag for the upcoming parliamentary elections next year.
