The Chief Veterinary Officer has assured farmers that there is no reason to worry about the arrival of the Bluetongue virus in the Faroe Islands.

Bluetongue is a viral disease that affects livestock, particularly sheep, goats, and cattle.

Sigert Patursson, the chair of the Farmers’ Association, and Birna Mørkøre, the Chief Veterinary Officer, discussed the matter in a radio news segment.

The involvement of both officials underscores the efforts being made to keep the farming community informed and prepared, despite the current absence of specific threats. The situation will be monitored closely, with updates expected to ease the concerns of local farmers about Bluetongue.
