Authority to transfer immigration responsibilities from Denmark to Útlendingastovan

Thursday 29th 2024 on 19:28 in
Faroe Islands

Starting September 1, the authority responsible for immigration matters will be transferred, meaning decisions will no longer be made in Denmark. Specifically, after this date, the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (Útlendingastovan) will take over responsibilities for decisions regarding permanent residency, temporary residency, and work permits.

This transfer will encompass all applications related to family reunification, employment, self-employed individuals, students, apprentices, researchers, missionaries, their accompanying family members, and au pairs.

However, it’s important to note that the agency’s jurisdiction does not cover all areas. Matters concerning visas, asylum, deportation, and citizenship will continue to be handled and decided in Denmark.

The agency is expected to manage around 3,000 cases annually, averaging approximately 12 cases per working day.
