Faroe Islands

The Chief Veterinarian’s Office has stated that farmers have no reason to worry about the viral disease Bluetongue reaching the Faroe Islands.

Bluetongue is a viral infection that primarily affects ruminant animals, including sheep, goats, and cattle.

The Farmers’ Association has urged the Public Health Authority and other relevant agencies to provide information, as farmers are concerned about the possibility of the disease arriving in the Faroe Islands. However, no information has been released at this time.

The Farmers’ Association highlighted this issue in a post on Facebook.

Sigert Patursson, the chairman of the Farmers’ Association, and Birna Mørkøre, the chief veterinarian, discussed the situation in a radio news segment.

For further updates, farmers and the public are encouraged to stay in touch with local health authorities.
