In Hoydølum, the facilities currently used for kindergarten activities and a special class at Eysturskúlin will be dismantled in 2026, announced Tórshavn’s municipal manager, Jóan Petur Hentze.

Approximately 1,500 square meters are allocated for kindergarten operations in Hoydølum, with the existing spaces covering around 500 square meters. Additionally, the ground floor of the old high school has been utilized since March for a kindergarten and childcare facility associated with Býlingshúsið á Ternuryggi while renovations take place. Currently, 45 children attend the institution.

Randi Ketty Heinesen, the manager, expressed concerns about the suitability of the old high school for kindergarten activities.
