A new Faroese speech recognition tool is now operational, capable of accurately understanding and transcribing Faroese speech. This innovation is expected to benefit everyone, particularly those who struggle with reading and writing effectively.

Karin Kass, director of Sjóndeplinum, expressed enthusiasm about the launch of the speech recognition software. “The foundation has been laid. This is where we are today,” she stated.

One individual looking forward to utilizing the Faroese speech tool is country singer Hallur Joensen. “I like to joke that I wasn’t in school the day we learned about the letter ‘ð,'” he remarked. Joensen emphasized that the tool will be an incredible resource for everyone.

The Faroese speech recognition tool will be available for free for the first 30 days and can be accessed on the website www.dictus.fo.
