Yle has received numerous reports from dog owners expressing concerns about health issues in their pets linked to Hau Hau Champion’s chew rolls. Owners have reported symptoms such as neurological disorders, panic attacks, respiratory issues, and diarrhea. Hau Hau is a brand under Prima Pet Premium. Additionally, several dog owners suspect that their dogs may have experienced symptoms from other products by the company. According to CEO Timo Pärssinen, no official complaints about those products have been received, although the company has received dozens of inquiries since yesterday.

Jouni Turunen, owner of a toy poodle named Minni, stated that his dog consumed the company’s chicken-flavored chew bones, which contain the same raw material as the suspect roll—beef hide. The company has yet to comment on whether the beef hide is the same as that used in the chew roll without a specific product lot number.

In a concerning case, Hanna Andström’s healthy seven-year-old Labrador, Mandi, experienced severe neurological seizures, resulting in euthanasia. These episodes began when Mandi exhibited hysteria while preparing for a walk. Despite veterinary examinations revealing no clear cause, it was later discovered that Mandi had eaten chew rolls linked to recent reports. Andström expressed her shock, stating she had given Mandi one roll a day over four days.

Several other dog owners have also reached out after the initial reports. Yle is aware of two other dogs that were euthanized due to sudden neurological symptoms, both of which had consumed the suspected chew rolls. One of these dogs, a nine-year-old spaniel, showed severe distress and abnormal behavior after eating the product, leading the owner to seek veterinary help. Further investigations revealed no clear reasons for the symptoms, increasing her concerns after she learned of the potential danger posed by the chew rolls.
