Last night, at around six o’clock, the Norwegian rescue service received a report that the Faroese vessel Naddoddur had capsized off the Norwegian coast.

Severe weather conditions were present at the time, with winds reaching up to 25 meters per second from the south and significant waves of up to five meters high.

There were six people on board the Naddoddur, five of whom survived.

A woman in her twenties has been confirmed dead.

According to Norwegian media, efforts are still underway to locate a 29-year-old woman named Karla Dana. Originally from Mexico, she resided in Orlando, Florida, and was part of the trip aimed at exploring Viking adventures.

The rescued individuals include four Swiss nationals: captain Andy Fitze, Georg Aebi, Martin Fitze, and photographer Säny Blaser, as well as the Faroese Livar Nysted from Hvannasund.

The Norwegian Coast Guard has located the Naddoddur, but the weather conditions remain so poor that they cannot yet proceed with searching for the young woman who is believed to be trapped beneath the vessel.

We spoke briefly with Andreas Bull from the JRCC Stavanger, who provided an update on the current situation.

The Naddoddur set sail from the boat company in Tvøroyri on Saturday afternoon after multiple weather-related delays had postponed the trip.
