The situation regarding Ingvild Kjerkol’s candidacy has evolved. Fredrik Grevskott, the leader of the Verdal Labour Party, stated that it was a deliberate decision not to include Kjerkol on their nomination list, emphasizing their preference for stronger candidates and a desire for renewal within the party. Similarly, Vegard Austmo, the leader of the Levanger Labour Party, confirmed that Kjerkol’s absence from the nomination lists was aimed at fostering this renewal.

Kjerkol herself has expressed a desire to seek reelection to the Storting (Norwegian Parliament). Grevskott acknowledged that while it is good for members to express their willingness for reelection, the final decision rests with the party members who ultimately choose their candidates.

On Tuesday evening, the Verdal Labour Party reached a unanimous decision regarding preferred candidates for the Storting in the Nord-Trøndelag electoral district. The top candidates identified were Stian Sagvold, Arnhild Holstad, Amund Hellesø, Bente Estil, and Trine Reitan. Grevskott emphasized the importance of debate within the party and regards competition for positions as a healthy sign.

Likewise, Kjerkol does not appear on the nomination lists in Levanger, where members are advocating for party renewal and seeking to inject new energy into the organization.
