Born at Rigshospitalet 25 years ago, Count Nikolai is the first grandchild of Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik, making him the first royal baby in nearly three decades. Currently sixth in line for the Danish throne and 326th in line for the British throne, he is also the first member of the younger royal generation to embark on creating his own career. Alongside his work as a model, he has recently completed his degree in Business Administration at Copenhagen Business School.

In an interview, he expressed excitement about utilizing his education professionally, having held various part-time jobs in different business areas. Having been part of the royal family for 25 years, Count Nikolai is accustomed to public scrutiny regarding his choices, especially concerning his future. He stated, “I know there are eyes on me and an audience. But it’s not pressure; I just want to be the best version of myself.”

The royal family has faced challenges recently, particularly after Queen Margrethe decided to strip the titles of prince and princess from her son Prince Joachim’s children, instead granting them counts and countesses of Monpezat. This decision led to public criticism from Prince Joachim and Nikolai, who initially shared his father’s discontent. However, he has since moved on, expressing contentment with his current life and focusing on enjoying his new chapter following graduation.

Despite the royal family’s recent turmoil, commentators note that this change offers Nikolai greater freedom as he begins his professional journey. Nevertheless, he remains acutely aware of his responsibilities and the significance of his royal heritage, emphasizing, “You can’t run from who you are, and I will always hold my head high and carry my family’s name with pride.”
