Over the last 24 hours, the Capital Region’s fire department responded to 117 medical transport calls. Among these were 18 priority transports, which is relatively low compared to the previous day’s 35 priority calls.

There were also four requests for pump truck services, all categorized as the lowest priority. In a statement released this morning, it was emphasized that patients at the emergency department of Landspítali are prioritized based on the severity of their illnesses or injuries. This protocol also applies to those arriving via ambulance—this group follows the same triage process as other patients at the emergency department.

There have been numerous instances where individuals arriving in an ambulance with minor injuries or illnesses have had to wait in the waiting room. The Capital Region’s fire department continues to manage the influx of calls while maintaining a focus on triaging patients effectively.
