Finnish Finance Minister Riikka Purra clarified her earlier comments on social media regarding the True Finns party’s commitment to the government’s anti-racism campaign. According to Purra, the True Finns party is committed to a report approved last year, which serves as the foundation for the anti-racism program and the campaign that has been initiated.

“Four governing parties have contributed to the program. We are indeed involved, just like the other three parties,” Purra stated. She added that it would likely not be necessary for the True Finns’ party leadership to make a separate decision regarding the campaign’s participation.

Purra also criticized media coverage of the topic, claiming that some outlets are eager to position themselves as independent political players and frame the issue in a way they prefer.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo presented the government’s anti-racism campaign alone. The True Finns held a meeting in Kouvola the same day, where Purra addressed the media about the campaign.

The government’s anti-racism campaign has faced considerable criticism. Previously, Jani Mäkelä, the chairman of the True Finns’ parliamentary group, expressed skepticism about the campaign’s necessity.
