Iceland anticipates rain and mild weather as low-pressure system moves eastward

Wednesday 28th 2024 on 09:03 in
Iceland

A slow-moving low-pressure system is located just southeast of Iceland, directing generally light northerly winds across the country. The precipitation associated with this system is creeping over eastern regions, where rain is expected today. In contrast, western areas will see some sunshine and remain mostly dry. Mild weather will persist, particularly in southern regions.

The low-pressure system will shift eastward tomorrow, bringing westerly winds and clearer skies in many areas. Another low-pressure system is forecasted to approach from the Greenland Sea by tomorrow evening, leading to rainfall in the Westfjords later in the evening.

In the following days, a southerly wind is anticipated, which will bring widespread precipitation, with heavy rain projected for southern parts of the country on Saturday. Additionally, volcanic ash may affect areas across the Reykjanes Peninsula, prompting caution and recommending that outdoor exertion be minimized.
