A national school peace declaration will be held in Hämeenlinna on Wednesday. This year’s theme, chosen by students, is “You Are Not Alone.” The theme serves as a reminder that no one should feel excluded, aiming to combat loneliness and raise awareness about the lasting effects of bullying.

Yle will broadcast the national school peace declaration live from Seminaarin School in Hämeenlinna. The broadcast begins at 10 AM and will last for one hour. Viewers can watch the event on Yle Areena or through a video linked in the article.

The declaration will be presented in Finnish by Ada Peltola and in Swedish by Robin Lassenius. The President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, will also deliver a speech during the event, with performances by artist Robin Packalen providing musical entertainment.

The initiative is backed by a working group that includes students from Seminaarin School, Miemalan School, Iittalan Unified School, Lammi High School, and Svenska Samskolan i Tammerfors in Tampere.

The School Peace program is a collaborative effort involving the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, the Police Authority, the National Agency for Education, Folkhälsan, and the Finnish Parent Association, with the overarching goal of promoting well-being and safety within the school community.

The declaration of school peace first took place in 1990.
