On Saturday, the Faroese fishing vessel Nadoddur set sail from Tvøroyri heading towards Norway. Among the six crew members was Livar Nysted from Hvannasund.

Last night, Nadoddur’s crew faced distress at sea, ultimately resulting in the vessel capsizing off Norway’s western coast, near the island of Stad.

Five crew members were rescued, but the sixth tragically drowned under the boat.

It has now been confirmed that Livar Nysted is among those who were saved. His wife, Svanna Sigmarsdottir, announced on Facebook that Livar has managed to call home and is doing well under the circumstances.

The remaining crew included four people from Switzerland and one individual from Mexico, who resides in Orlando, Florida, USA.
