The National Criminal Police of Finland (KRP) is now investigating the case of a man who went missing nearly 20 years ago as a murder case. Seppo Tapio Korhonen, 39, disappeared on the afternoon of March 13, 2005, and was last seen getting into a car at the Shell station in Hyrylä, Tuusula. To date, Korhonen’s body has not been found.

KRP has expressed particular interest in a red Opel Kadett, model year 1990, which Korhonen was seen entering. The two-door vehicle had the license plate LFJ-966 and is currently unaccounted for. Investigation leader Kimmo Huhta-aho stated that someone may have information about the car that has not yet been reported.

There are indications that the vehicle may have been disposed of in a manner conducive to secrecy. Key areas in the investigation include Jäniksenlinna and Nuppulinna, located to the north of Hyrylä. Huhta-aho mentioned that the case was reexamined earlier this year, leading to the reclassification of the investigation to murder.

“Many events have occurred since 2005, both in terms of criminal investigation and the personal situations of those involved. There isn’t a single reason why this case has become urgent again,” he shared.

KRP is urging anyone with information to contact them at +358 29 541 8622 or via email at [email protected].
