A distressing incident occurred in Steinkjer when a woman in her 70s knocked on a neighbor’s door, pleading for help. The neighbor, Bjørg, recounted her horror, recalling the woman’s words: “I’m dying.” Following the alarming call for assistance, emergency services arrived promptly at the scene where the elderly woman had sustained severe injuries, reportedly resulting from an assault involving a chokehold and a sharp object.

Bjørg described the chaotic situation, noticing blood on the woman’s clothes and face. Recognizing the urgency, she dialed emergency services and insisted that police be summoned. The rapid response from police and medical teams, arriving within three minutes, was crucial, allowing the victim to speak to officers before being transported to the hospital.

Authorities have since been actively engaging with residents in the area to reassure them and gather information regarding the incident. Bjørn Stene, a police official from Steinkjer, emphasized the importance of maintaining community safety, particularly given the unsettling nature of the event. The investigation suggests the assault may be classified as random violence, with police working to clarify the circumstances through witness interviews.

The resident community is now grappling with heightened fear, prompting individuals like Bjørg to reconsider their personal safety measures, including locking their doors more frequently. This disturbing episode reflects a profound impact on local residents, instigating discussions about security in what is typically deemed a safe environment.
