The Swedish government is aiming to achieve the dual objectives of reducing the cost of living for its citizens while also meeting climate targets. At a recent press conference, Ebba Busch from the Christian Democrats (KD) announced plans to increase the reduction obligation for fossil fuels. Currently set at 6 percent for diesel and gasoline from 2024 to 2026, the government intends to raise this requirement to 10 percent starting July 1, 2025. This initiative is part of the Tidö parties’ key campaign promises.
