Faroese Police Association raises alarm over severe understaffing in Faroe Islands
The Faroese Police Association has raised an alarm, asserting that the police force in the Faroe Islands is so understaffed that it cannot meet its necessary obligations.
The police, already operating below capacity, is facing a budget deficit of millions. Instead of reinforcing the police force, a financial analysis is being conducted to align the budget with the shortfall.
“It is far from satisfactory,” stated Eyðun Dalsgarð, chairman of the Faroese Police Association.
The situation highlights ongoing struggles within the law enforcement sector in the Faroe Islands, where the current limitations may hinder effective policing and public safety. The association’s call for support reflects broader concerns regarding the adequacy of police resources and capabilities in addressing community needs.
