Naddoddi vessel reports successful first day at sea near Shetland

Monday 26th 2024 on 10:33 in
Faroe Islands

The vessel Naddoddi is currently in good condition after its first day at sea. The boat is situated just north of Shetland, according to Bergur Jacobsen, the chairman of the Naddoddi boating association, who has been in communication with the crew on board.

Originally scheduled to depart on August 19, the journey was delayed due to poor weather conditions, causing the ship to dock in Tvøroyri until it set sail for Norway yesterday afternoon.

The purpose of this voyage is to attempt to navigate the waters in an open boat, similar to the Vikings over a thousand years ago.
