Petur Petersen to assume role as Faroe Islands’ ambassador to Israel starting September 1
Petur Petersen will assume the role of the Faroe Islands’ ambassador to Israel on September 1 and plans to travel to Israel tomorrow.
“I am leaving,” Petersen stated briefly.
He will fly to Paris first and then continue to Tel Aviv. Air France has canceled its flights to Israel today, but the situation for tomorrow remains unclear.
“I have not yet heard anything about my flight being canceled,” Petersen added.
As he prepares for his new position, he refrained from commenting on the current situation in Israel.
“It is difficult to make assessments, and the situation changes rapidly,” Petersen noted.
The Faroe Islands have had an embassy in Israel for several years, located in Tel Aviv. However, there is no institution in the Faroe Islands that evaluates safety in individual countries. Therefore, Faroese authorities rely on assessments from Danish agencies regarding such matters.
