Single-person households dominate in the Faroe Islands as statistics reveal significant growth

In the Faroe Islands, one in four households consists of a single person, making it the largest household category in the region, according to data from Hagstovan.
The second-largest group, nearly equal in size to single-person households, comprises two adults without children. Notably, two-thirds of all households in the Faroe Islands have no children at all.
As of July 1, the Faroe Islands recorded a total of 19,440 households, reflecting an increase of 152 households since January 1. Over the past few years, the number of single-person households has grown by 27%.
