Petur Petersen will assume his role as the Faroese ambassador to Israel on September 1 and is scheduled to depart for Israel tomorrow.

“I am leaving as planned,” Petersen said briefly.

He will travel from the Faroe Islands to Paris and then on to Tel Aviv tomorrow. Although Air France has canceled its flights to Israel today, it remains uncertain what the situation will be for tomorrow’s flights.

“I have not yet heard anything about my flight being canceled,” Petersen added.

He officially begins his duties on September 1 and refrained from commenting on the current situation in Israel.

“It is difficult to make assessments, and the situation can change rapidly there,” he noted.

The Faroe Islands have maintained a diplomatic presence in Israel for several years, with their embassy located in Tel Aviv.

Currently, the Faroes do not have any institutions that evaluate security in individual countries, and Faroese authorities rely on assessments provided by Danish authorities in this regard.
