Rainfall has decreased over northern Iceland in the last 24 hours, primarily affecting the Strandir and Tröllaskagi regions. Although water levels remain high, river flows have lessened, leading to a reduced risk of landslides as the day progresses, according to the meteorological office.

A warning remains in effect for the Tröllaskagi area, and the road through Almenningar is closed. Most landslides occurred two days ago and early yesterday morning. The areas marked in red on the map illustrate landslides reported to the Icelandic Meteorological Office from Friday up until this morning.

More reports of landslides are expected as people resume outdoor activities. The weather is forecasted to improve tomorrow. The meteorological office emphasizes the importance of reporting any landslides to their monitoring team, which can be done through their website, vedur.is. At the bottom of the homepage, there is an option to report avalanches under “Ofanflóð – tilkynning.”
