Storm disrupts Tønder Festival in Denmark as vehicles get stranded

Several cars, motorhomes, and campers had to be extricated from the campsite at the Tønder Festival after a severe storm struck the event last night. One attendee, Henrik Andersen, has been waiting for four hours for roadside assistance to free his camper. “I thought I would have lunch at home today, but that didn’t happen,” he said.

Henrik was attending a concert in one of the festival tents when the storm hit. “The whole tent shook, and water was pouring down the walls. It was truly a terrifying experience to see such a large tent sway violently. Many people inside were very worried,” he recounted.

The intense weather, characterized by heavy rain and strong winds, forced the cancellation of the festival’s concluding concert at the Open Air stage. Additionally, some guests had to be relocated to the Tønder-Hallerne. Fortunately, no festival attendees were injured during the storm, as confirmed by the Tønder Festival organizers.

This year marked the 50th anniversary of the Tønder Festival.
